Our senior cat, Mimi, is 16 years old this week. Unfortunately, she's had a rough few days and doesn't feel up to being photographed for the blog today, so here's a rather stunning portrait of her from about a year ago.
She's a gorgeous specimen, as you can see, and quite vain. But her dignity suffered quite a bit this week as she was feeling very poorly due to...we still don't know what. A vicious cycle of possible infection, lack of appetite, high blood sugar, and constipation has all made her one grouchy kitty. She stayed at the vet all day today, undergoing quite a few invasive and humiliating procedures. At press time she is home and hiding under the bed. What a way to spend your birthday.
Having an elderly pet is hard sometimes, for sure, and I can't lie--I'm very worried. What can I say? We love this critter. She's been with us since she was ten weeks old and--when she's not enraged at us for taking her to the doctor--continues to give us lots of affection and amusement. Happy birthday, Meemer (such as it is). Your people love you and want you to get better ASAP.
I hope meemer feels better asap! I know all about elderly pets as my buns are quite the old pair which have given me lots of scares over the past year. *le sigh*
Meemer is pretty and hope she gets her dignity back in time for dinner. :)

Aww, hope your kitty feels better. We lost our last cat, Dixie, almost three years ago. It's hard to see them age...
