Right now at my workplace, we're fostering some kittens. To get the word out about them so we can help them find permanent homes, for the past few weeks part of my job has been to play with kittens, take pictures of them, and write about them for the shop's blog and Facebook page.
People, THIS IS THE JOB I WAS BORN TO DO.
Seriously. It's hard to imagine anything more fun or rewarding for me than this. I get to hang out with cute animals and help people adopt them. I get to write. And take pictures. And promote a small business.
I know a lot of people would rather get a root canal than have to do social media all day, but it comes really easily to me. Maybe it's because I grew up far away from extended family and have moved a lot--keeping in touch with people is a skill I developed pretty early in life. So if I can do that and accomplish some good for the shop, our customers, and our community (including its four-legged members) at the same time, what's not to like?
