Summer is game season around our house. We spend many a warm evening sitting on the porch after dinner playing cards or board games.
Not long ago, a friend made a casual mention of Five Card Sorry! It's like regular Sorry!, only instead of drawing one card at a time, you keep five cards in your hand and play one on each turn.
That sounded kind of fun, and I just happen to still have my original Sorry! board I got from Santa circa 1977. The box still sports one of the name stickers I was sticking to everything back then. I was really excited about those stickers because having stuff with your name on it was kind of a thing at the time, and it was hard to find personalized stuff that said Stacy and not Stacey.
When I stuck that sticker on there, I couldn't have imagined myself being 43 years old playing with this same board on a porch in Georgia with my husband while sipping cocktails. Kind of fun to think that my future would be pretty unfathomable to my 8-year-old self, yet I'm still playing with her toys. :)
Anyway. With Five Card Sorry!, there's still luck involved, but also much more strategy than in normal Sorry! We're kind of addicted to it now. It's super fun, even though out of the dozens of times we've played, I've only won three games. Yeah, my record is terrible. And the end is often excruciatingly close, like in this game shown here. I was red. Ouch, so close. But still fun! But yeah, ouch.
