While I haven't been blogging

...a bunch of other stuff has been going on, which I haven't slowed down enough to document.  My life is just going through a busy patch at the moment!  Quick recap:

Braves game--we had some cheap tix we needed to use before the regular season ended, so we were glad to squeeze that in.  I actually took some pictures of that, but they all came out blurry.  (Go Braves!)

Had dinner with our friend Melissa, who was in from CA for a work thing.

Another night, had dinner with our friend Ellen, who was in from BC for fun.

This happened at my work this week.  Work has also been hectic as we geared up for this event, now underway.

Anthony started a new part-time job this week, so the schedule at our house has become wack-a-doodle as far as sleep, transportation, meals, junk like that.  With luck, we'll both settle into the new groove this week.

I've been revisiting the work I did during Camp NaNoWriMo, and gradually dipping my toe back into doing more writing on that.

I'm making a nice dent in my yarn stash.  I've turned out four small knitting projects in the past couple of months and have a fifth in progress, all from yarn I already had.  Most of these are gifts, though (except these), so I can't show you any photographic evidence!  Top secret!

The glider project is stalled due to weather.  Last weekend, the weather was perfect, but we were out of town visiting Anthony's mom.  This weekend I'm home, but it's supposed to rain.  So #@$% frustrating!

Dreary days are great for indoor projects, though, so I plan to start some fall wardrobe sewing today.  Hint: this pattern will finally see the light of day.

Anyway, that's what's been going on with me.  I'll probably write more detailed posts about some of this stuff soon.  Also, I'm waaaay behind on my blog reading, so I need to catch up on what everyone else in blogland has been up to!

This weekend Anthony and I lugged three carloads of our old junk quality merchandise over to a friend's house, and we all had a yard sale.  This event has been in the works for a while, and we've been navigating piles and boxes of stuff for weeks.  It was starting to get realllly old.

Totally worth the hassle, though.  Anthony and I made almost $300, cleared out soooo much stuff from our house, and donated a lot of what didn't sell to a worthy cause.  Win-win-win!

And then my sinuses exploded

The other day, Anthony and I were strolling up to the market and I was admiring the many gorgeous morning glories that were growing wild along the way.

So many different colors, greeting the sun and making the beautiful morning even more beautiful...

...just winding themselves among the weeds, doing their thing.

We bought our groceries and trekked back toward home.  But apparently while we'd been inside the market, the county or whoever had come along and mowed down all the weeds along the side of the street, along with many of the morning glories. 

After that, everything is pretty much a blur of ragweed particles, snot, and allergy meds.  I basically spent the next several days recovering from this brief little outing.  It was worth it, though.  I'm glad I got some shots of these beauties before they got mowed under, and before my vision went all blurry and teary.

Doesn't it seem like this project has been going on FOREVER?  Yeah, I'm ready to be done.  But it's been really tricky to get the right combination of free time, cooperative weather, and money for supplies.  Whenever I finally do manage to get all three of these factors to line up, I take advantage of it.

 

 

As I much I wanted to believe I was ready to apply the actual paint after my previous session, in reality I knew I needed a more thorough coat of primer first.  After a trip to my local hardware store for more supplies, I dove in.

 

 

Besides the rarity of the time/weather/money trifecta, the other thing that's been making this project take so long is that each phase is really several mini-phases, because I have to do one side, wait until it dries, flip it over, do another side, etc.

 

It's getting there!  We spend a lot of time on the porch in the fall months, so (fingers crossed) there should still be plenty of good glider time ahead when this is finally finished.

Fall? Is that you?

Just a quickie post--this day is too beautiful to be spent staring at a computer screen.  We woke up to low humidity and a chill in the air. 

Good timing for football season, and I just finished knitting these socks yesterday.

These are my new Steelers socks, which I wanted to finish in time to wear while watching the season opener on tv tonight, even though I figured the weather would be too hot for wool socks.  But maybe I'll get to wear these after all!

I hope the day is beautiful wherever you are, too.

This face says it all

Greetings, people of the interwebs!  I'm back, after having to put my computer in the shop for a while.  The good news is a) it was under warrantee, so the repairs were free; and b) I got it back just in time to receive all my virtual birthday (tomorrow) wishes and to post this fantastic photo I dug up the other day.

God, I wish I still had that hat.  I would be wearing all day tomorrow and rocking it hard.

 

I'm not sure how to read that look on my face, but I'm pretty sure it means I was overwhelmed with awesomeness!
