Over at the Self-Stitched-September Flickr group, we have a few mini-assignments going on for the month, to mix up the photo content a bit. For Wednesday, Day 7, the challenge was to photograph ourselves at work.
Actually, quite a few of my outfit photos get taken on the job. Anytime you see a picture of me with yarn in the background, I'm at work. Yes, I am lucky enough that one of the things I do to make a living is work in a yarn shop! Here's an action shot of me pricing a luscious mohair blend we just got in for fall.
- Necklace: Mimosa design by Stacybeads, available in my Etsy shop
- Skirt: McCall's 5631
- Top: Store-bought, but noteable for the fact that this was the first day the weather was cool enough to wear SLEEVES. :)
When I look at this photo of Day 8, I can't even focus on whether or not the outfit works, because I'm too distracted by my hair. It has driven me crazy all week, being in my eyes and growing steadily wider and wider as it inevitably does.
Sorry to whine. I'm lucky to have thick, healthy hair. All I'm saying is that such, ah, abundant hair comes with its own set of problems.
- Necklace: Beaded by me from thrifted beads
- Skirt: Another McCall's 5631
Hey, that's more like it! I started Day 9 with a visit to my girl Alana at Salon Red on Dekalb Avenue. She took one look at my mop and knew exactly what to do. She eyeballed how my hair had grown out and declared that it wasn't awful, but that it looked a little too "nice girl." (Plus, she's been doing my hair for so long that she knew right away, without being told, that my hair was interfering with my peripheral vision.)
I certainly feel much better now!
- Top: McCall's 4922 (out of print)
