To celebrate the holiday, we decided to try something new: a Gwinnett Braves game. Based in nearby(-ish) Gwinnett County, the "G-Braves" are a minor league farm team for the Atlanta Braves.
Coolray Field is an adorable stadium! They have a little picnic area, where we enjoyed some classic ball park treats before the game.
It was free thunderstick night. By the way, vigorous thundersticking provides a great upper body workout. I'm sore today!
Here I am with my new pal, G-Braves mascot, Chopper. He looks like a beaver to me, which would make sense with the name Chopper, but apparently he's actually a groundhog. I have no idea why.
It started raining in the fourth inning and never totally stopped. We came prepared with ponchos. :)
Look at all those umbrellas. A little rain wasn't about to deter the fans or the players from their holiday fun.
Final score: Gwinnett Braves 11, Durham Bulls 3! This included a very exciting grand slam in the eighth inning, which I did not photograph because I was too busy cheering wildly. If you're looking for high-quality sports coverage, you've come to the wrong blog. :)
After the game: best. fireworks. ever. Seriously. Anthony and I both said this was about the coolest, most gorgeous display we've ever seen. I don't know who created this show, but they had some kinds of fireworks we'd never seen before. I tried to capture some of the highlights using the "fireworks show" setting on my camera. Groooooovy.
I hope all of my U.S. readers had a fantastic holiday weekend! Did you do anything fun?

I don't know which I love more - the fact that your camera has a fireworks setting or the fabulous photos that are the result of using it.
