Things have been stressful and busy and kinda sucky lately. I won't bore you with all the details, but suffice it to say that I'm overworked and overwhelmed. This evening, though, I'm at a point where I'm waiting for people to return emails before I can proceed with my end of things, so I thought I would dust off ye olde blog a bit.
I have no time to sew, and haven't in months. However, I do have fantasies about sewing for summer. Let's take a look!
Some fabrics from my stash that have been on my mind. Top left: Black and white faces print I bought in San Francisco in 2009; top right: faux ikat polka dot cotton; bottom left: lawn chair print cotton; bottom right: some fun remnants.
Those remnants, I think, would make sassy headbands for summer. As for the rest...
I originally bought the lawn chair print with this dress, Simplicity 2403, in mind. Probably the version on the top right. But...
New Look 6886 with lawn chairs on it could make an awfully cute summer dress. I'm partial to View A, with the gathering at the bust and little cap sleeves. Second choice would be View C. While Views B and D are both also pretty, spaghetti straps are just not my friends.
Meanwhile, the two fabrics on top seem to want to be, well, tops. Possible candidates:
I keep imagining the B&W faces as the sleeveless View E of Simplicity 2501, but minus the ruffle. Or possibly...
Simplicity 2703, again the sleeveless top. I made the dress version of this pattern a year or two ago and I do love it. As far as I can tell, the top is just the same thing, only it stops at the hipbone. This pattern is also a contender for the orange faux ikat polka dots. As is...
Good old Simplicity 2614, View D. I made three of these last year so, yes, I'm a fan. This would actually be great for the polka dots because several pieces are cut on the bias, so it doesn't matter so much which way is up on the print. This pattern would not be suitable for the faces, for example, because on some pieces (e.g., the whole back) the faces would end up being diagonal and I think that would look dumb. But the polka dots would look the same from pretty much any old angle.
So there you have it! A bunch of things I would love to make but will probably never have time for. But at least I'm thinking about something other than work and attempting to blog again.

Thanks so much, Sølvi! I'm glad to be back and glad to hear from you!

Hi Stacy! Thanks so much for visiting AsianCajuns!
I am so impressed at your sewing skills- pillow cases give me a headache- but I so wish I could make my own clothes like you!
